Song Title: General
Artists: Michael Rose featuring Fucious
Once again Michael Rose the legendary former lead singer of international reggae group Black Uhuru has done it again with this smash single entitled “General.” This song depicts the harsh realities of criminal life within the ghettoes all across the world and where so called “Generals” or rude boys end up as a result of these crimes, jail or the penitentiary. Michael Rose takes you right into the heart of the matter bringing his verses from inside the prison itself from the smell of the environment down to the type of food served within the penal system. Rose also touches upon the ill treatment of prisoners from beatings to solitary confinement without food or water, not even light.
This song also has a guest appearance by a Hip Hop artist by the name of Fucious delivering descriptive verses about the realities of prison life that help further illustrate the intensity of the song. “Locked up 25 to life yearning for your child and wife” paints a vivid picture of what an inmate hopes for while imprisoned and contemplating what the consequences are while being there. The song describes the downside to crime and what a prisoner wishes for while in prison when being treated less than a human being “from all the wrongs you’ve been making.” A great collaboration song for Michael Rose and rapper Fucious because we haven’t heard hip hop and roots reggae connecting in a long time with such conscious lyrics people will be jamming as well as thinking. That just makes for great music not to mention the rhythm is a classic!!!
Song Title: Love Without Pain
Artists: Krucial (Reggea Artist),
Fucious (Rapper)
This song Love Without Pain is discusses how one cannot exist without the other like a Ying and Yen type of relationship. Life has many opposites that have to coexist to complete the whole and are necessary for each other to exist. Kruchial’s chorus is saying all the negative people in the world will not make it through the test of time they will all fall at the work of their own hands. But on the flipside Kruchial discusses how life constantly moves in cycles “after the rain comes the sunshine…. the ending of flesh is not the ending of life…. What goes up must come down , what goes around comes back around.” Kruchial is clearly depicting the opposite forces that work in the cycle of life to make it a complete 360 degrees. “Sometimes you smile sometimes you wear a frown-- don’t let that hold you down” in this line Kruchial is showing that everything is temporal and not to be lived out forever, in short don’t get trapped in the moment for it will soon pass. The song is showing people to hold on tightly to things eternal and to hold lightly things that are temporal.
The Rub a Dub song has another aspect featuring a Hip Hop artist. With Hip Hop being so big right now, the song had to have that cutting edge Hip Hop element as if the beat wasn’t enough with the smooth Reggae chanting of Kruchial here comes rapper Fucious His verses are discussing inner battles that go on inside all of us lust, greed, highs and lows, not putting first, and being let down. Then near the end of the first verse he shows how he conquers his own demons by discipline and eventually gaining something priceless - peace. Next verse discusses the plight of the world with not following their “inner voice” their personal conscience so to speak and being caught up in the distractions or “noise” of the world.
Krucial ends each verse with “every thing that glitters aint gold you can gain the world but lose your own soul” a summary of what life can be if your priorities are mixed up.
Last but not least the rhythm that is backing this song was composed by Hugh a melodic jazz fusion of reggae, rub a dub, hip hop, and rock n’ roll, with a techno flare. Put you in a hypnotic conscience state of mind. The lyrics and rhythm compliment each other in abstract euphoria. Hugh produced and arranged the song to perfection causing the sonic sound scapes that are captivating audiences world wide. This is his latest creation on his label Dub Planet.

Fucious records songs that range from topics dealing with love and relationships to spirituality and issues relating to current events in the world. The lyrics that he writes have a poetic and descriptive feel because he started writing poetry years ago that eventually turned into writing rhymes for hip hop songs. Fucious can be classified as a clean cut rapper who barely if ever curses within his lyrics because he feels there is so much more to say that curse words can’t express. His mission in music is to push the envelope and break down barriers set by the standards music follows, drawing from a range of influences that he incorporates within his music. Tracks
Embya - Is a story about a monk growing up in a temple who is the
predicted messiah or savior , similar to the Last Emperor movie. This
emperor is sent to save the people from their oppressors. He is in tune
with the ancestors and was born with mystical powers . The people in
power knew of his birth and that he is the predicted savior so they
must destroy him before he rises up an army like Moses with Pharaoh.
Chorus- "from a seed so simplistic I see the rising of a king so
majestic and every time I feel this natural mystic, it's like a power
that you never ever witnessed". Second verse is about King David being
anointed in the Bible then coming back as Jesus eventually through the
holy line. They are parallel stories taking place at different times in
history but same purposes in different nations. A story about
redemption and liberation.
Badoom Boom - Tells the industry, other artists, producers, fans,
etc... beware we are a force to be reckoned with. Nothing like anything
you have heard before badoom boom blowing up the whole spot/industry, radio etc. Point blank we are not playing around and are coming here to
take the number one spot. Chorus- "we spar like Spartacus, when we come
through, yo! we conquer like warriors, Ha Ha ha, taking over titles and
claiming victorious we are not your average rap artists... Badoom boom
what you want now what you need now badoom boom."
Who want it? - Braggadocios stuff claiming to be the best. Who want it
we will bring it to you UPS style or COD. Then there is an agenda
against people who have talked crap about us individually or wronged us
in the past. A pass the baton type song like a relay race. You can pick
it up where I leave it? You take it from where I left off. Chorus who
want it come get it? You can pick it up and run with it? A tag team
type song I go then you go then he go etc.
Temptation - Life stories about choosing right and wrong. Temptation
is basically will you sleep with that girl and/or will you give into
peer pressure with drugs, etc. Going after material and physical things
even if they are not for you.
All that I've Been Through - Two fictional stories about people caught
up in themselves not caring about whom they hurt or the life that they
live. Both are "players" from a male and female perspective. In the end
they both get played and karma comes back to them in the form of "what
goes around comes back around '' type of scenario.
Oochie Cah - Rub these lyrics in your head or on your skin like
lotion. A battle record. Fucious raps about being in a boxing ring and
knocking out the competition. The other guys are talking big talk
trying to put fear in competition and any would be opponents. The
lyrics move from coast to coast describes how far our reach is and how
far we are trying to go in the music industry.
Wallflower - Dance song get hype joint. People in a party atmosphere
that stand on the wall are "Wall Flowers" plants so to speak. Fucious
raps about a club scene where this song changes the atmosphere making
everyone want to dance. There will be no Walls Flowers allowed once his
songs play in the club. Get up and dance!
Hip Hop - Fucious reminisces about his joys and passion towards this
form of music. Remembering why he wanted to do it in the first place.
How it has become too commercial now and it is not the same. People
dying, shooting, cussing, etc how it has changed over time and how he
would like to be a force to help change the music for the better. The
music's affect on Fucious and the affect he would like to have on the
music and society as a whole.
One Gun - A call for peace and to end black on black crime. Eradicate
senseless killing "the shootout is not pretty they got one gun thinking
them big and bad but they are only going to end up in the jail house". Police brutality going on etc. A stop the violence song.
Love Without Pain - This song Love Without Pain discusses how one
cannot exist without the other like a Ying and Yen type of
relationship. Life has many opposites that have to coexist to complete
the whole and are necessary for each other to exist. Kruchial's chorus
is saying all the negative people in the world will not make it through
the test of time they will all fall at the work of their own hands. But
on the flipside Kruchial discusses how life constantly moves in cycles"after the rain comes the sunshine.. the ending of flesh is not the
ending of life.. What goes up must come down , what goes around comes
back around." Kruchial is clearly depicting the opposite forces that
work in the cycle of life to make it a complete 360 degrees. "Sometimes
you smile sometimes you wear a frown-- don't let that hold you down" in
this line Kruchial is showing that everything is temporal and not to be
lived out forever, in short don't get trapped in the moment for it will
soon pass. The song is showing people to hold on tightly to things
eternal and to hold lightly things that are temporal.
Worlds Collide - Black and white race uniting as one. The musical
styles colliding rock and rap like Run DMC and Aero smith. Physical vs.
spiritual etc when things are at war with each other basically two
different worlds coming together to form something new. People from two
different walks of life trying to come to common ground.
Loving You - Love story taking place in Montego Bay during spring
break and a guy falls in love with a girl knowing they were meant to be
together regardless of the environment or events taking place. Finding
love in a club is a bit of a stretch but hey it happens.
Shining Star - A love story about a chance acknowledgement by a girl
while walking down the street.. The girls never paid attention in the
past but eventually she does after seeing how persistent her purser is.
The purser's destiny and soul mate have been fulfilled. This woman
brightens up his life and makes him have purpose and direction.
The Mark (Living this Life) - Apocalypse end of the world type thing.
Mark of the beast, microchips in hand or forehead no more cash society,
earthquakes, hurricanes, global warming, a warning that the end of time
is near. The chorus is saying stay strong through it all no matter what
you witness or go through. A biblical verse quoted from Revelations
about the end of days. The last days are upon us.
General - Song is about being imprisoned and what got a person there
in the first place. The General Penitentiary is not a pretty place and
we do not want to glamorize that life. Many people in videos advertise
the gangster lifestyle but do not show the consequences of that
lifestyle. We are not putting these people down but instead are trying
to give them something to look forward to when they come out. It is
also a song to discourage people from doing things that will put them
in prison. This is another stop the violence song in the vein of One
Gun.
Heaven - A story about the purity of heaven. Compares how things are
rough on earth and one should imagine what heaven must be like. Can we
try to live good on earth instead of waiting till we get to heaven to
love one another in peace and harmony. Let's have a piece of heaven,
on earth, while we can. Chorus-"Life is the ultimate it ever bless.
Live a life, Love a life, Live it right in Selassie sight". This song
is about living your life right for the here and now not a pie in the
sky promise. Our reward is in heaven, not our life that must be lived
out in the physical here on earth.
Calling - Calling everyone to their spiritual resting place. Similar to a repatriation back to one's homeland. For that matter bringing
yourself back to your essence and a place of peace. Like being called
by God to do something or dying and being called back to him. This
could embraces unifying individuals across the globe.
The CD, The Journey, begins with the birth (Embrya) and ends with
death (Calling) back to the essence. "Ashes to ashes and dust to dust"
a complete circle within the "journey of life". |
